February meeting was great!
Feb 12, we had an Atlanta Plone meeting. Ten people turned out to share food, Plone knowledge and participate in building a local Plone community.
After a holiday recess, Atlanta Plone hosted an event at ifPeople's offices and had four new people attend. It was a fulfilling event, since it helped us solidify a meeting format, schedule a regular, monthly meeting, and share great food!
The evening kicked off with an abundant potluck dinner, including Steve's homemade (vegan) tamales, spinach pastries, and other yummies complemented by a lovely set of beverages. It was hard to drag the talkative Plonistas away from the kitchen (see photo), but we eventually got to the second part of the meeting - learning!
The learning format of the meeting is to include two presentations, one for general Plone information and one more technical. Chris started off with a talk on managing permissions, roles, and groups in Plone. The slides will be available here shortly. Further information on this can be found in the LearnPlone tutorial.
Derek followed with a presentation on syndication and aggregation in Plone. His presentation will also be available on this site shortly.
Following the presentations, the group addressed some important issues for growing the local community, like "when do we do this again?!" Atlanta Plone's next meeting will be March 7. See here for more on the announcement of the meeting schedule.
